This Atascadero maternity photography session was my first official post-COVID session. What a world we live in now. I’m so grateful for clients who trust me to capture these special moments in their lives, even with everything going on around us. The golden hills and rolling oak trees were the perfect backdrop for this summertime Atascadero maternity session!

Stephanie and Nate are expecting little boy number two in just a few weeks. I could not be more excited for them! Nate is a firefighter and just a week before our session was fighting a fire in my small town. Huge shoutout to him and his crew who protected our neighborhood and kept our town safe! And Stephanie is working from home while taking care of Jeffrey and growing his little brother to boot! I truly believe mamas are superheroes, but to be expecting during a pandemic just adds a whole new layer of stress and these two are rockin’ it!  

Toddlers don’t always cooperate, as all parents know. It’s like they know when you NEED them to behave and they do the EXACT opposite. And that’s okay. I approach all my littlest clients with patience and silliness until they warm up. Jeffrey wasn’t too stoked on our session, at first. But we played games, looked for puppies on the trail, and he even helped me carry some of my “gear,” aka a lens cap…. By the end of our session he was finally giving me those smiles we were waiting for and we parted as buddies! 

Even in a pandemic, life goes on. People are continuing to live their lives, have babies, get married, graduate high school… all those bigs moments we usually want to document. If you’re in need a photographer, please know that I take social distancing seriously and recognize that everyone has different feelings regarding this pandemic, but I will always take precautions to protect my clients while also documenting these special moments in their lives!
